The Race to Rid SIDS is organized by the Playmates in Heaven Foundation.  The Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness on infant sleep safety and to benefit SIDS research done by a team of doctors at the University of Virginia Research Hospital.

The Foundation has two families, Mike & Sunny King and Brian & Tamara Donohue who are united by the bond of losing children to SIDS.  Brody King and Jack Donohue were beautiful, healthy little boys who are dearly missed.  Our families were devastated by the passing of our children and we would like to help find answers so that other families never have to experience what we endured.  No parent should be told that their perfectly healthy child suddenly stopped breathing and passed away from no apparent reason.  This race is to celebrate the lives of our sons and their memory.

All proceeds from the event are donated to Rectors & Visitors of The University of Virginia, a 501(c)(3) organization.
